Kia Ora New Zealand

We definitely went a little delirious on the last leg of the journey to Auckland!  Fin was asleep before we even boarded the Qantas flight, and slept all the way through till we were walking off the aircraft, so that was amazing.  We, on the other hand, were crying laughing on the flight - uncontrollable fits of laughter.  By this point, we had been awake for over 2 solid days and we were in pieces!  So it turned out to be quite a fun flight!

2am, and we were waiting for our taxi outside.  We had fairly high hopes of our airport hotel, but couldn’t have been more wrong!  It was our first ropey accommodation of the trip, but we just needed to sleep, so just took it in our stride and got our heads down.

The next morning we were on our way to stay with a good friend who generously invited us to stay so we could prepare for the next chapter of our travels.

It was so lovely to arrive at her ‘home’.  Quite novel really, as we hadn’t stayed in a house for a good few weeks now and with Miri’s warm welcome, it was the perfect sanctuary for us to recover from our epic journey.

We spent the evenings chatting and catching up over a bottle of NZ red.  Laughing about funny times we enjoyed back in 2009 when we all spent Christmas in a beautiful bach on Waiheke Island together pre-kids!

Now we sat planning this Christmas together again, but this time, with the next generation, which was going to be extra special.

It felt so good to be back.
